We opened a second location! It’s been awhile! We started this journey in the middle of 2017, when we signed a lease at the Vantage Point apartment building to bring escape rooms and other games to their space. Why did we do it?
We designed the second escape room, The Eye of Providence around 3 years ago, but we didn’t have a space for it. It took us awhile to work out a new place and to gather a team that could succeed at all the challenges the room would bring. It involves tech and decor at another level from that of our first Escape Room, The Lazarus Crystal. We feel our new facility is perfect for it, and we’re excited to have it open in April 2019.
With the new space, we also wanted to focus on team vs team games. Escape rooms are great, and the thrill of playing team vs team is amazing, but it’s not a replayable experience. We want to offer a site-specific game that you’ll want to come back to. Something easy to pick up, but still with enough strategy and variation in it to be fun more than once. We’re hoping that game is The Vault, which we will have open to the public March 1st, 2019.
With the software and hardware advances in Virtual Reality, we felt we had to incorporate it. I got sick the first time I played VR a few years back and I never thought I’d want to play it again. The current generation of VR is miles better, more fun and without the queasiness. With chroma-keying technology, we can put you into the game and stream it locally or to the world. On top of that, the experiences themselves are so much better.
We partnered up with Breakscape games who made the first Multi-player Virtual Reality Escape Room, De-composed. We were impressed with their game and felt it was a perfect fit for what we were already doing. We like to duplicate everything we do so that you can play team vs team with all our experiences. We did that with having enough VR stations here for two teams if you’re so inclined.
With that in mind, we opened up our new Downtown location, in the Cortez Hill area of San Diego. We’ve got free console and classic arcade games as well as comfy couches and chairs. We want it to be your neighborhood hang out even if you don’t feel like paying anything. Come on by - we’ve got some fun free stuff.
We can’t wait to show our new attractions, but for now, we’ve got our VR Escape Room De-composed up and running as well as a healthy VR library of games and experiences. Hope to see you soon!
